SHARKS PRAISE PROFLIGHT BACKING

South Africa’s Sharks Academy rugby team have commended Proflight Zambia for  helping make their recent trip to Zambia a success.

The nation’s domestic airline sponsored the Sharks with discounted return flights from Durban to Lusaka to help boost the Zambia Sevens International Tournament held at the Polo Club in the Lusaka Showgrounds.

Sharks Academy skills coach, Alan-Basson Zondagh said: “We flew in from Durban to Lusaka aboard Proflight, which left us relaxed, refreshed, and ready to play rugby. The flight was amazing, the staff were great, and the food absolutely delicious. We are very thankful to Proflight for getting us over here, so we could take part in the tournament.”

He said: “We brought the Academy team to represent the Sharks and expose the players to the international rugby stage. This is a great chance for the players to express themselves and develop as rugby players while enjoying the game.”

In addition, the Sharks were invited to do some coaching with kids at Baobab School and the surrounding Lusaka area. “It was a nice experience for the team to coach and continue to grow the sport through sharing the tactics, added Zondagh.

Sharks Academy manager Etienne Fynn said: “We were very excited to be invited for the Zambia Sevens International Tournament. The flight was excellent. Given the distance between Durban and Lusaka, I was impressed with how fast the flight was.

“This represents a great opportunity for our young team to measure themselves against older, more experienced players on the international stage. We are very thankful to the sponsors and organisers of the tournament,” he added.

Proflight’s Director of Government and Industry Affairs Capt. Philip Lemba said: “We were excited with the teams’ performances and standard of this version of rugby being showcased in Zambia. As a growing sport in Zambia, we are happy to support rugby. The Sharks Academy is considered one of the best rugby training facilities in the world, so it’s no surprise they would choose to fly to the tournament with the region’s best airline.”

“Congratulations to the Zambia Rugby Sevens team A for winning again this year. It was a worthwhile tournament with spectacular teams showcasing some skilful rugby moves we rarely see here,” said Capt. Lemba.

Proflight’s Durban route is the only service connecting flyers from Lusaka to Africa’s city of golden beaches. Durban is an international tourist destination and attracts travellers from all over the globe on vacation and business.

The airline will begin offering a Sunday morning Ndola-Lusaka-Durban connection departing 06:45 out of Ndola, arriving in Durban at 10:40, this October.
