LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambia’s aviation sector will take centre stage in October when Proflight Zambia co-hosts the 55th Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA), scheduled for 16th to 19th October 2025 at CIELA Resort in Lusaka.
The premier aviation event is expected to draw more than 250 delegates, including airline executives, regulators, policymakers, and tourism stakeholders from across the region. The 2025 AGA, themed “Believe, Stop, Improve”, will tackle critical issues shaping the sector, including competitiveness, sustainability, connectivity, route development, digitalisation, inclusivity, skills development, and regulatory standardisation.
“Hosting AASA in Lusaka is not only a milestone for Zambia but also for the wider Southern African region,” said Proflight Zambia Director of Flight Operations, Captain Josias Walubita. “As a private airline that has built more than 20 years of domestic and regional connectivity, we see this as an opportunity to highlight Zambia’s role as a growing aviation hub and tourism destination.”
The Gala Dinner, set for 18 October, will be the premier social highlight of the AGA, bringing together over 250 industry leaders, regulators, CEOs, and innovators. As the host airline, Proflight Zambia, together with invited partners, will showcase Zambia’s renowned hospitality, flavours, and culture, while creating a premium networking platform for delegates.
Proflight Zambia, which operates an extensive network of domestic routes and regional services to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and soon Windhoek, has been instrumental in expanding connectivity and supporting tourism flows into Zambia. The airline recently launched jet services to Kasama and continues to strengthen access to both established tourism markets such as Livingstone, Mfuwe, and Lower Zambezi, as well as emerging destinations including Mansa and Kasama.
The conference comes as Southern Africa’s aviation industry adapts to changing traveller expectations, including demand for transparent pricing, flexible booking, and digital self-service. Proflight Zambia has responded by multiple digital payment options including mobile money and transitioning to a fully cashless system by November 2025.
Industry leaders at AASA 2025 are also expected to discuss structural cost challenges, such as high airport and ATC charges, and strategies for stimulating demand on both trunk and secondary routes.
