Zambia’s leading regional airline Proflight Zambia has relaunched its direct Lusaka-Durban route starting from April 2023, continuing its ambition to expand its network and business in the region.

Durban becomes the second international destination into South Africa serviced by Proflight. The airline will operate flights on Thursdays beginning April 6 and Sundays beginning April 16, with a special Tuesday flight on April 11 for Easter weekend returns. On other days, flights are available to Durban via Johannesburg.

Flights depart Lusaka from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 09:00hrs, arriving in Durban at King Shaka International Airport at 11:30hrs. The return flight leaves Durban at 12:30hrs, arriving in Lusaka at 15:00hrs.

“We are delighted to announce that Lusaka-Durban direct flight is coming back this April,” said Proflight Zambia Director Flight Operations Captain Josias Walubita.

The Lusaka-Durban route was stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The airline continues to follow health safety measures and is adhering to public health guidelines on COVID-19 throughout the journey.

Capt. Walubita said the airline’s resumption of the Lusaka-Durban route was a clear indication of its commitment to growth and regional expansion. The airline believes that this expansion will provide its customers with access to two key commercial centres in South Africa: Johannesburg and now Durban.

The route will be serviced by Proflight’s CRJ-100 and CRJ-200 aircraft, providing passengers with comfortable travel options. Schedules and fares are available for booking on the airline’s website www.flyzambia.com

Durban does not only enjoy significant demand for flights to South Africa but is South Africa’s second most important manufacturing hub after Johannesburg with the presence of a number of major multi-national companies.
