Proflight Zambia has launched a new daily direct flight from Livingstone to Lower Zambezi for the 2018 safari season.
The new route will enable time-pressed tourists to more easily factor in a trip to the wildlife and fishing haven of the Lower Zambezi with their must-see visit to Livingstone and the Victoria Falls, and help to further open up the Lower Zambezi for the tourism industry there.
The flights operate between 15 June 2018 and 15 October 2018, with departure from Livingstone at 09:55hrs every morning, arriving at Royal airstrip at 11:30hrs and Jeki at 12hrs. Flights from Lower Zambezi depart at 07:20hrs and 07:50hrs respectively, arriving in Livingstone at 09:25hrs
“Proflight is working continuously to make air travel very convenient for both local and international travellers. We are happy to launch the new Livingstone-Lower-Zambezi service route as it is aimed at making life easier for domestic and international tourists,” said Proflight’s director of government and industry affairs Capt. Philip Lemba.
By helping to lower the cost of travel through its direct route between Livingstone and Lower Zambezi, the airline hopes to boost the tourist presence in both destinations offering travellers connectivity and convenient movement.
Capt. Lemba added: “Proflight recognises the importance of tourism travel around the country, hence introducing new routes and direct flights will boost domestic tourism and travel, which will in turn increase the country’s GDP.”
“As you know tourists and investors don’t want to spend too much time in transit. They want to invest their time on what brought the m here in the first place which is tourism or business activities,” he added.
The move by the airline will provide tourists with greater flexibility will help broaden the range of tourist attractions accessible.
Both Livingstone and Lower Zambezi boast internationally acclaimed tourist attractions. Proflight also operates direct routes from Mfuwe to Lower Zambezi, Lusaka to Lower Zambezi, Lusaka-Livingstone, Ndola-Livingstone and now Livingstone-Lower Zambezi.
