PROFLIGHT LOVEBIRDS TIE THE KNOT AFTER MID-AIR ENGAGEMENT

Lovebirds Twambo Kumwenda and Christine Nondo Kumwenda have married after a mid-air Valentine engagement last year on board a Proflight Zambia flight to Livingstone.

The romantic University of Zambia (UNZA) computer lab technician went down on bended-knee to propose to his sweetheart in front of 48 passengers as the airline’s CRJ jet cruised at 28,000 feet.

Christine said yes, much to the delight of fellow passengers who cheered and clapped their approval of the couple, who were enjoying the airline’s two-for-one Valentine’s Special.

“I feel extremely happy that I have married the person I love the most. We are actually best friends, so this feels extremely good,” said the groom, who invited Proflight staff to attend the wedding.

Twambo added: “I am very happy that Christine and I have finally become one, I have been waiting for such a long time since our engagement in February 2017.”

“We never thought we could touch the hearts of many after our engagement which became so popular. That made our engagement very special,” added Christine.

The couple finally married on June 2, 2018 and ended their day with celebrations with family and friends at Cresta Golfview Hotel before heading off on a Proflight flight for their honeymoon in Durban.

“I’m very joyful that we have gotten married and we are ready to go for our honeymoon in Durban. I love my wife so much and Durban is such a romantic place to spend our lovely happy moments after our beautiful wedding,” said Twambo.

“I’m looking forward to spending our first romantic days of our marriage together. We want to have lots of fun and excitement,” added Christine.

“Our heartiest congratulations to Twambo and Christine from all of us at Proflight Zambia. We wish them all the best in their marriage and future. We look forward to welcoming them on board our aircraft on many more occasions as they journey through life together,” said Proflight Zambia’s director of government and industrial affairs, Captain Philip Lemba.
