Proflight Zambia has recognised the nation’s leading travel agents for their contribution to promoting domestic and international tourism.

Travel agents have been key in attracting and making travel easier for tourists wanting to travel, said the airline during its annual awards ceremony held in Lusaka this week.

“We are grateful to all the travel agents for your continued contribution and support in promoting air travel and tourism; this has made Zambia an attractive destination around the globe,” said Proflight’s Commercial Director Keira Langford-Johnson.

“Congratulations to all the winners this year. We wish you all the best and we look forward to another exciting year in growing travel and tourism. Through our shared relationships as industry stakeholders we continue to produce valuable travel packages to our customers,”

During the award ceremony, Voyagers Zambia won first place in the Proflight-flown revenue category followed by Juls Travel and Discovery Travel.

In the people’s choice awards, Voyagers scooped the award for Best Agency to Work With, while Blueberry Travel was recognised as the Most Sympathetic Agency for schedule changes, and CIAO Travel won the Best Sales Agent We Love accolade.

The Highest Flown Charter Revenue award went to Discovery Travel, which received two return flights to Durban, and Ukwenda Travel in second place, receiving one return flight to any Proflight destination of their choice.

The award ceremony ended with a quiz presentation which saw the winners receive gifts and flights to Durban.

In conclusion Mrs Langford-Johnson said: “This year has been very exciting, and we wish to strengthen and take our relationship with travel agents further in 2019.”

This year expects to fly 163,600 passengers, a 15% increase, while flying over 3 million kilometres.

With Zambian tourism and air travel growing, travel agents have been among the key image builders of Zambia as a tourist destination, contributing valuable foreign exchange earnings to the economy.

Proflight has been proactive offering discounts and promotions that have motivated travel agents and tour operators to create affordable travel packages.
